[PERU: A Grisaille Watercolour Signed "V. Coverley-Price" Titled:] Camp At 12,000 feet on the edge of the Puna in the Andes of Central Peru.
Ca. 1925. Watercolour ca. 21,5x35 cm (8 ½ x 14 in), with typewritten title label mounted on verso. The watercolour, in period matting, is in very good condition with bright colours. This attractive and skillfully executed watercolour by a listed artist known for his landscapes and urban scenes shows three mountaineers in camp with two tents and three horses in the background. "The Puna grasslands.., are found in the central Andes Mountains.., above the tree line at 3200-3500 m elevation, and below the permanent snow line above 4500-5000 m elevation" (Wikipedia).
